LAKEWOOD RANCH — After more than two years of business, Stingray’s Grill has closed its doors in Lakewood Ranch.

Realtor Tom Chamblee of Collier’s International, who is representing the property at 6260 Lake Osprey Drive, said it is listed at $1.75 million and has been on the market for the last several months, even while the restaurant was still in operation.

Restaurant owner Ken Keim and his wife, Trish, could not be reached for comment.

“The owners just wanted to sell it,” Chamblee said. “They weren’t really operating it, so it was one of those things where they wanted to divest themselves of that property.”

According to Collier’s International’s listing, the sale price includes all furniture, fixtures and equipment. However, the business is not for sale.

The Keims, who had been with Shells Restaurants for 16 years, announced they were changing the name of the restaurants at 7273 S. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota and the Lakewood Ranch location to Stingrays in 2008. Locations in Sarasota, Tampa and Brandon already have closed.

Lakewood Ranch Commercial Realty President Brian Kennelly said he did not know why Stingray’s closed.

“We are not familiar with the situation as this is not a building that we own,” he said. “It seemed they had good lunch crowds and were busy around dinner time.”

In the last decade, the building has been home to numerous restaurants, including J. Ryan’s On the Grill, Sammy Frog’s and June.
