EAST COUNTY — State environmental officials are considering selling 19.4 acres in Lake Manatee State Park as surplus land.

A preliminary surplus-lands list from the State Department of Environmental Protection includes the land on a list of 5,300 acres in Florida that the state will potentially sell.

The land at Lake Manatee State Park is a strip at Dam Road and State Road 64 East.

Officials discussed the list at a public workshop Wednesday night at the DEP headquarters in Tallahassee.

An online hearing, called a webinar, will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight and again from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

The surplus-lands list will then undergo more hearings and reviews, with Gov. Rick Scott and three members of the Florida Cabinet making the final decision on whether to sell the land.
