SMR Farms named 'top grower'

Bradenton-based Tropicana Products has named SMR Farms, a subsidiary of Lakewood Ranch developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, as on of its top growers for the 2009-2010 citrus season.

This marks the second time SMR Farms has been dubbed one of Tropicana’s Growers of the Year in the last two years.

“It is certainly an honor to receive this designation from an outstanding organization like Tropicana,” SMR Farms President Mac Carraway said. “Our production manager, Steve John, and his crew have done an amazing job this year, especially coming out of last year’s record cold weather and a rough start this year.”

Other recipients of the award were Consolidated Citrus out of Ft. Myers, Sungrown Citrus in Ft. Meade and Sunny South Packing in Arcadia.
