The Siesta Key Association will host two meetings next week that focus solely on the oil spill. The public is invited to both.

It will co-host the first with the Siesta Key Chamber, Siesta Key Merchants Association and Siesta Key Condo Council. It will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 28, at the St. Boniface Church community center at 5615 Midnight Pass Road.

County Commissioner Nora Patterson and County Emergency Management Chief Ed McCrane will make a presentation and then take questions from the public. Also in attendance will be officials from the U.S. Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Environmental Protection and Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.

The second forum will be at the regular meeting of the Siesta Key Association at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, July 1, also at St. Bonfiace Church.

The entire agenda will be dedicated to discussing the oil spill and its possible effects on Siesta Key’s beaches and businesses.

Patterson and McCrane will also appear at the second forum.
The oil spill is currently about 150 miles away from Sarasota County.
