+ Cougars D comes up big
The Cardinal Mooney High defense forced four turnovers, including three interceptions, to propel the Cougars to a 44-7 victory over Lake Placid Sept. 13.

Running back Demardre Patterson scored on runs of 63, 5 and 5 yards to lead the way for the Cougars.
Quarterback Reese Vita connected with Austin Leach for a 45-yard touchdown.

Robby Howard kicked a field goal, and Clarke Horne added a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Cardinal Mooney returns to non-district action Sept. 20 vs. Avon Park.

+ ODA golf team swings past Southeast
The Out-of-Door Academy boys golf team defeated Southeast 160-234 Sept. 9, at Tara Preserve Golf Course.

Gary Deng and Tomas Vicek both shot 39 to lead the way for the Thunder. Ricardo Vicek shot 40. Max Coutioultsos shot 42. Josh Silverman added a 44, and Cisco Marcano shot 45.

+ Sarasota Christian falls to Manatee Heat
The Sarasota Christian volleyball team fell to Manatee HEAT 23-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-24, 15-12 Sept. 16.
Cheyenne Miller contributed 16 kills, two aces and five blocks to power the Lady Blazers. Briana Eddy had six kills, two aces and two blocks. Heidi Miller added 11 kills.

+ ODA sweeps Imagine
The Out-of-Door Academy volleyball team defeated Imagine High School 25-13, 25-13, 25-10 Sept. 12.
With the win, the Lady Thunder improved to 5-1 (2-1).

Taylor Albano led ODA with five kills and six aces. Reanna Gregory contributed five kills and Savannah Jones added four kills. Cameron Graham had nine perfect passes, eight digs and eight aces.
Sarasota Christian returns to action Sept. 19 versus Booker.

+ Riverview High swimming
The Riverview High boys and girls swim teams went a combined 8-0 to win a five-team swim meet Sept. 11, at the Selby Aquatic Center.

The Rams finished ahead of Cardinal Mooney, Sarasota, Booker and Sarasota Christian.

Riverview won 17 of the 22 events. Spence Atkins powered the Lady Rams with victories in the 100-yard freestyle, 200 freestyle, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
