+ Lady Sailors cruise to victory
The Sarasota High girls basketball team cruised to a 65-41 victory over North Port Dec. 5.
Camille Giardina scored 19 points to lead the way for the Lady Sailors. Shelby Miller and DeQuandra Hill each scored 11 points. Ja’da Bennett added 10 points. Madison Pack contributed eight points.

+ Lady Thunder, Lady Blazers tie
The Out-of-Door Academy girls soccer team tied Sarasota Christian 2-2 Dec. 3.
ODA’s Abby Lagasse scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Katy Lang. With ODA trailing 2-1 in the second half, Lexi Murphy scored the tying goal unassisted.

+ Baseball camp to be held at ODA
Current and former baseball greats will share their baseball talents and their Christian testimonies during the Athletes in Christ Major League Believer baseball camp from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 14, at ODA.

The camp is free to all players in grades eight through 12. Those expected to attend the camp include Troy Mattes, Cord Sandberg, Correlle Prime, Carmine Giardina and Robert Hinton, among others.
Athletes in Christ is a Bradenton-based non-profit organization that shares the message of Jesus Christ through baseball camps and other athletic events.

Individuals interested in participating can visit AthletesInChrist.org to download a registration form.

+ Orioles to hold ice show
The Baltimore Orioles will present Ice on the Diamond — A Holiday Celebration at 7 p.m. Dec. 20, at Ed Smith Stadium.

The holiday-themed show will feature world-class ice skaters on a specially engineered ice stage at the ballpark. The show’s cast includes Michael Chack, a U.S. national bronze medalist, and Erica Archambault, a U.S. junior national champion. Triple gold medalists Stephanie Kuban and John Hunt are the lead pair.

The event is part of the Orioles’ Arts in the Ballpark initiatives, a series of arts-and-entertainment activities at Ed Smith Stadium.

Tickets for the show can be purchased online at orioles.com/sarasota, by calling 893-6300 or in person at the Ed Smith Stadium box office. Tickets range from $5 to $45. Admission is free for children 2 and under, sitting on a parent’s lap.

Cardinal Mooney Boys Soccer
The Cardinal Mooney High boys soccer team defeated Booker 4-0 Dec. 5. Nick Rigas scored a pair of goals to lead the way for the Cougars. John Rodman had a goal and as assist, and Alex Turner scored a goal. Michael Staikos earned the shutout.
