+ Sailors set track records at FSU Relays
Several Sarasota High runners set new school records at the FSU Relays March 21 and March 22.
Freshman Mackenzie Brown ran a personal best 2 minutes, 20.94 seconds to set a new school record in the 800-meter run before teammate Emily Harding ran a personal best 2:18.86 to win her heat and set a new school record.

Harding followed up her school record in the 800 with a new school record in the 1,600, finishing in 5:01.35 — nine seconds faster than her previous best time. Angelina Grebe (5:25.23) and Brown (5:16.63) also set new PRs.

Adam Bradtmueller broke the school record in the 3,200 with a PR of 9:28.22. Bradtmueller went on to set a new PR and school record in the 1,600 with a time of 4:20.54. In the next heat, teammate Zack Summerall broke Bradtmueller’s new school record with a time of 4:18.65.

Corey Williams placed first in the long jump with a personal best jump of 23 feet, 1.75 inches. Jake LeBlanc was fourth in the 400 with a PR of 50.01. Summerall was fourth in the 800 with a PR of 1:55.40.

+ ODA storms back from five runs down
Trailing 5-0 midway through the first inning, The Out-of-Door Academy baseball team rallied back to beat St. Stephen’s 6-5 in district action March 20.

Austin Hoppe pitched six shutout innings in relief to get the win for the Thunder. Jeremy Luna went 3-for-3 and drew a walk to plate the game-winning run. Jake Romine went 2-for-4.

+ Booker edges Palmetto
The Booker High boys tennis team defeated Palmetto 4-3 March 18.

Pablo Sanchez (No. 1), David Klos (No. 2) and Joseph Haygood (No. 3) all earned singles victories for the Tornadoes. Sanchez and Klos also were victorious at No. 1 doubles.

With the win, Booker improves to 8-0 on the season.

+ ODA swings past Lemon Bay
The Out-of-Door Academy boys tennis team defeated Lemon Bay 6-1 March 20.

Vaughn Garcia, Jose Juncosa, Marius Bschorer and Edward Hamburger all earned singles victories for the Thunder.

ODA also won both of its doubles matches.

With the win, the Thunder improve to 7-2.

+ Youth football registration underway
Registration for the YMCA Bulls youth tackle football spring season is underway.

Players ages 11 to 12 and 13 to 14 are eligible. Age is calculated based on a child’s age as of Dec. 31 of this year.

SarasotaChristian Softball
The Sarasota Christian softball team defeated St. Stephen’s 7-3 March 18.

Cheyenne Miller pitched a complete game, allowing six hits while striking out nine.

Miller also went 4-for-4 with three two-run home runs and six RBIs to lead the way for the Lady Blazers at the plate.

Audra King went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Sarasota Christian followed up its victory with an 11-0 shutout of Bradenton Christian in five innings March 20.

Miller earned the win on the mound, allowing two hits while striking out eight. She also went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs.

King went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. McKenzie Lantz went 2-for-3 with a triple. Savannah King went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
