Sewer grates stolen from East County site

The Manatee County Public Works Department this morning put up  barricades on Pope Road and Center Ice Parkway after it was discovered 12 sewer grates had been stolen from the Lakewood Ranch roads.

A Manatee County Sheriff's Office report states unknown persons removed seven sewer grates from Center Ice Parkway and five from Pope Road. The thefts were discovered around 7 a.m., today.

Authorities do not know where the grates were taken, but notified the county's public works department, which already has placed barricades where grates were stolen.
