The northbound lanes of U.S. 41 are closed just south of Central Sarasota Parkway due to a sewage spill from a truck that overturned Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, law enforcement is on the scene as of 3:45 p.m. and crews are trying to clean up the spillage.

An accident caused the spillage, according to the Sheriff’s Office, but more information was not immediately available about what happened, or how long the lanes would be closed.

This is a developing story and will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
