Retired acupuncturist Pete Theisen is having another go at a City Commission seat.

Theisen, 65, officially announced his run today at Payne Park.

The Alta Vista resident campaigned two years ago for one of two at-large seats, which Commissioners Suzanne Atwell and Terry Turner ultimately won.

Theisen is now running for the District 3 seat Mayor Kelly Kirschner is vacating in the spring.

His focus is going to be jobs.

“We can’t use real-estate development to create jobs, because we have too much unused real estate now,” he said. “We still have a two-year supply of unsold properties. Why would we want even more?”

As a commissioner, one of Theisen’s priorities will be to update the city’s traffic-management system.

Theisen currently only has one opponent — Charter Review Committee member Shannon Snyder.
