School Board to vote on new administrators

The Manatee County School board will vote on three new potential hires to Superintendent Rick Mills’ leadership team, during a board meeting tonight.

Mills has recommended Wylen Herring-Cayasso as the new exceptional student education director; Robert Johnson as the new director of planning and performance management; and Troy Pumphrey as the new investigator in the Office of Professional Standards.

Pumphrey, a former Washington, D.C., police detective and current senior investigator for the Florida High School Athletic Association, takes over a department that has been empty since January.

He started his work with the Florida High School Athletic Association, for which he conducted athletic-related investigations, in 2006. He has also taught criminal justice in Hillsborough County at Worton High School and Newsome High School.

Herring-Cayasso replaces Jodi O'Meara, who recently resigned as director of Exceptional Student Education. Herring-Cayasso is now director of Exceptional Student Services in Kissimmee.

Johnson is currently the director of administrative operations in Minneapolis Public Schools, Mills’ former employer.

The 5:45 p.m. meeting will be held at 215 Manatee Avenue W., in Bradenton.
