School board to discuss BRE budget

The Manatee County School Board will meet tonight for its regularly scheduled meeting.

The meeting, which will begin at 5:45 p.m., Feb. 22 at the School Board of Manatee County, 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, is scheduled to include a vote on two change orders to an agreement between the district and NDC Construction Co. to reduce the guaranteed maximum price of renovations of Braden River Elementary School by $245,115.04, bringing the maximum price to almost $7.217 million. The district had budgeted $10 million for the project.

Additionally, Mary Glass, director of the Manatee Education Foundation and Margi Nanney, supervisor of community and press relations for the district, also are scheduled to discuss results of the school district’s Hope for Haiti fundraising campaign.
