For the next several weeks, construction will be ongoing at Sarasota Memorial Hospital as crews work on installing a pedestrian bridge linking the hospital’s Medical Arts Building and South Parking Garage.

The 73-foot, 25,400-pound pedestrian bridge, which will link the buildings located near the 1900 block of Arlington Street, was delivered to the hospital on Wednesday night, according to a hospital press release. Streets were closed for the initial instillation, but no further daytime road closures are planned.

Periodic lane closures are possible over the course of the construction, which is expected to last about three weeks. The construction is not expected to impact the hospital, the garage or the adjacent emergency care center on Arlington.
