Sarasota man arrested on 50 counts of child pornography

A Sarasota man was arrested today on the alleged possession of child pornography.

Fifty one-year-old John Dickie was arrested at 9:35 a.m. by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office on 50 counts of possession of child pornography

Computer forensics detectives traced the IP address at which 504 files of child porn were downloaded to Dickie’s computer at his apartment. The alleged downloads occurred between Aug. 5 of last year and April 28.

After executing a search warrant today, the detective performed a preliminary investigation of Dickie’s personal computer for a sample of images to be determined as child pornography.

According to the affidavit, Dickie allegedly admitted to downloading child pornography.

The possession of more than 10 images of child pornography causes the crime to be classified as a second-degree felony.

His arraignment is set for Aug. 8.
