Boulevard of the Arts reopens after gas leak

UPDATE: Boulevard of the Arts reopened shortly after noon, the county announced.

Previously: Boulevard of the Arts is partially shut down west of Van Wezel Way due to an active gas leak in the area Tuesday morning. 

The Sarasota County Fire Department responded to the 800 block of Boulevard of the Arts this morning, and units are still on scene as on noon Tuesday.

The intersection of U.S. 41 and Boulevard of the Arts remains open.

A county spokesperson said a back hoe hit a gas line, which caused the leak.
