The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office launched a crime-mapping tool today. The tool is accessible by visiting www.sarasotasheriff.org, and is under “Public Interest." It can also be accessed by clicking “Crime Mapping” in the quick links on the home page.

The tool displays the location of recent crimes in Sarasota. When you click on a incident icon, information relating to theincident pops up, such as what type of crime occurred, when the crime took place, what the specific location was and further links for more information.

“Making our crime data available to the public through this easy-to-use visual tool is another measure of transparency that also enhances our ability to build a crime-prevention partnership with the community,” said Sheriff Tom Knight in a press release.
