Four Sarasota Christian School teams will compete at the world competition for Odyssey of the Mind, which will be held May 22 to 25 at Michigan State University in Lansing, Mi.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.

The fourth and fifth grade team received second place in the state competition and earned the Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award, which is the highest award at the Odyssey of the Mind competition. They are heading to the world competition for the first time.

The seventh grade team as well as the eight grade team took first place at both the regional and state competitions and are advancing to the world competition.

The trip marks the seventh grade team's second year in a row to advance to the world competition and eight grade team's fourth.

Last year eight grade won second place and tenth grade won third place in the world competition. The tenth grade team is advancing to the world competition again after taking first place in the regional competition and first place at the state competition for the fifth year in a row. They earned their second Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award of which only four were handed out at the state level this year.
