Midwinter Meditation Retreat
Starts at 9 a.m. at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 5615 Midnight Pass Road. The retreat will lead participants through meditation to promote inner peace. Call 349-5616, Ext. 5.

The Sarasota Arts & Antiques Show
Takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail. This year’s show will feature 45 vendors selling fine antique furniture, silver, bronze, and antique and estate jewelry. An opening night party from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14 benefits Designing Women. Tickets for the party are $50. General admission for the show is $8. Visit sarasotaartandantiques.com.

Saturday, Jan. 16
Ringling Bridge Run
Starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail. The event starts with the four-mile run that draws thousands each year. A one-mile fun run starts at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $25 for adults; $15 for children; $60 for families. Visit sarasotaymca.org/ringlingbridgerun.

Sarasota Winter Fine Art Festival
Runs from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. on Gulfstream Avenue. The event is hosted by the Humane Society of Sarasota County. Admission is free. Visit paragonartevents.com.

All Trails Hike
Starts at 8 a.m. at Oscar Scherer State Park, 1843 S. Tamiami Trail. Choose from 12 miles of paths and trails to explore nature. The most popular trail is the Green Trail that winds around Lake Osprey. After hiking, enjoy lunch until 2 p.m. An acoustic concert takes place from noon to 2 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults; free for children under 16. Call 483-5956.

Postcard Show
Runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 7750 Beneva Road. Buy, sell, trade or just look at thousands of vintage postcards. Admission is $3. Call 924-4664.

Move to Amend Barnstorming Tour
Starts at 7 p.m. at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court. Move to Amend co-founder and outreach director David Cobb will present “Challenging Corporate Rule & Creating Democracy.” Admission is free. Visit sarasotapeacenter.org.

‘One Mississippi, Two Mississippi’
Starts at 6 p.m. at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 5615 Midnight Pass Road. A talk on racism and reconciliation marks the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Carol George leads the discussion of Freedom Summer of 1964 in Mississippi. Tickets are $10 and include dinner. Call 349-5616.

A Musical Celebration
Starts at 3:30 p.m. at Temple Sinai, 4631 S. Lockwood Ridge Road. The musical celebration series in honor of Temple Sinai’s 25th anniversary continues with a performance by the Sarasota Mandolin Orchestra. Tickets are $18 in advance; $25 at the door. Call 924-1802.

Dream Big: Civil Rights and Social Justice
Starts at 6 p.m. at Booker High School Theatre, 3201 N. Orange Ave. The event includes a screening of the documentary “Selma: The Bridge to the Ballot,” plus dance, music, a mock appellate hearing and panel discussion. Admission is free. Call 355-2967.

Sarasota Garden Club Lecture
Starts at 10 a.m. at the Sarasota Garden Club, 1131 Blvd. of the Arts. Carl Lewis, Ph.D., director of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, will present a lecture and slideshow on Florida orchids. Admission is free for members; $5 for nonmembers.
