Riverview alum wins silver medal

Hunter Leeming, a 2011 graduate of Riverview High won a silver medal in the Men’s Eight at the 2015 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 22 through July 26, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Hunter Leeming, a 2011 graduate of Riverview High won a silver medal in the Men’s Eight at the 2015 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 22 through July 26, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. 

The former Sarasota Crew and Brown University rower and his teammates crossed the finish line in 5 minutes, 36.49 seconds to finish second behind Germany (5:33.56). 

Leeming, who started rowing in 2006, is a three-time national team member having been named to the U.S. Junior National Team in 2011 and the Under 23 National Team in 2013 and 2015. 

Leeming also won a silver medal in the men’s eight at the 2013 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. He won the quadruple sculls at the 2010 CanAmMex Regatta and finished fifht in the men’s eight at the 2011 World Rowing Junior Championships. 

Last year, Leeming helped Brown’s varsity eight to a second-place finish at the 2014 IRA National Championships.
