Ranch CPA firm to conduct straw poll

Lakewood Ranch-based accounting firm Kerkering, Barberio & Co. will conduct an independent straw poll of voters regarding the incorporation of Lakewood Ranch.

Ballots for the poll are expected to be mailed to all registered voters in Lakewood Ranch on Aug. 1.

"We believe it's important to give back to the communities in which we work and live," Managing Partner Rob Lane said. "When we were asked to assist in this important process and determined we could independently oversee it, we agreed to donate our time."

Lane said the company has not taken a position on incorporation but felt it was essential have a credible, independent source bring the straw poll forward.
