Public Tennis Center names best of the best

On March 29, the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center concluded its season-long men’s doubles “Who’s B.O.B.?” competition (“Who’s Best of the Best?”) with a cookout and awards ceremony. Points accumulated from November through the last event in March are used to determine the top-10 players. As in the past, the season ends in March to make room for the upcoming April Spring League.

In addition, the Public Tennis Center will also be hosting its fifth annual Fidelity Investments Senior Doubles Tournament from April 14 to April 18. There will be two divisions for men (ages 60 and 70) and two divisions for women (ages 55 and 65). The tournament also has a cash-prize incentive. The USTA-sanctioned tournament will once again be sponsored by Fidelity Insurance. This USTA tournament is a smaller tournament than the one held in December and is for doubles matches only.

In the past there have been 100 players involved in the tournament, and the tennis center believes that there will be that many playing again this year.
