Pedro Santana hit a two-run base hit with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel the Pirates past the Indians. Jerrod Leinhauser earned the win in relief.

BOYS TENNIS

Lakewood Ranch 4, Winter Park 3

The Mustangs won both of their doubles matches to defeat Winter Park, who finished No. 4 in the state in Class 4A last year, on the road.

SOFTBALL

Braden River 4, Sarasota 2

Freshman Courtney Mirabella pitched a complete game for the Lady Pirates, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out nine and walking two.

Ashley Allard went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored; and Nicole Tira went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI to lead the way for Braden River. Brooke Ribarich went 1-for-2 with a triple and a run scored; and Lauren Powell went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Joey Meador and William Patterson both had three hits and a pair of RBIs and Mick Olitsky hit a three-run homerun to lead the way for Braden River. Stephen Fischer earned the win.

GIRLS TENNIS

Katherine Pyne, Cari Berry, Alyssa Corcoran, Sammi Aiezza and Chloe Blackketter all earned singles victories for the Lady Mustangs. Pyne and Berry and Corcoran and Aiezza were also victorious at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.
