‘Dark Shadows’
Three Popcorns
Genre: Horror/Comedy
Cast: Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, Johnny Lee Miller
Director: Tim Burton
Rating: PG-13
Comment: More clever comedy than horror. Johnny at his best. Very cool ’70s shtick and a lot of fun. Have a Happy Halloween in May!

‘We Have A Pope’
One Popcorn
Genre: Foreign, Comedy, Drama
Cast: Michel Piccoli, Jerzy Stuhr, Renato Scarpa, Franco Grazios, Camillo Melville
Director: Nanni Moretti
Comment: A secular spoof on the Catholic church featuring a burned-out old man chosen pope and a sucker-punch ending. A good premise that had the potential for so much more substance … like a good ending!

‘The Artist’
Four Popcorns
Genre: Foreign, Romantic Comedy (silent)
Cast: Jean Dujardin, Berenice, Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell, Penelope Ann Miller
Director: Michael Hazanavicius
Rating: R
Comment: If you missed this 2011 five-Oscar, Best Picture winner, it’s back. If you have already seen, it’s a joy to see again! A major silver screen creative accomplishment.
