Police thwart man's escape from cop car

A homeless man Sarasota Police arrested for lodging out of doors Monday, Sept. 16, escaped the squad car at the Ringling Boulevard crosswalk between the Sarasota County Jail and the Sarasota Police Department.

Police quickly detained 27-year-old Brandon Kesti after he shifted his handcuffs and slipped out of the partially-opened window of the police vehicle, according to an arrest report. Officers had arrested Kesti after he gave several false names and was found sleeping near Selby Public Library after 6:45 a.m.

The Sarasota Police Department has charged Kesti with escape, lodging out of doors, resisting without violence and giving a false name after an arrest.
