A Sarasota Police officer re-routed nearly 100 confused sea turtles found wandering toward the entrance of Lido Beach Resort Saturday, Aug. 3.

Officer Derek Conley stopped traffic several times while collecting the lost critters in a box and releasing them into the Gulf of Mexico, according to a news release.

It wasn't the first time Sarasota emergency workers came to the aid of baby animals — emergency personnel rescued a duckling from a storm drain earlier this year.
