Police investigate shooting in north Sarasota

The Sarasota Police Department is investigating the shooting of a 17-year-old male that occurred early Tuesday morning.

The shooting took place in the 1400 block of 18th Street just after midnight, according to a SPD release. The 17-year-old was found with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Blake Medical Hospital after being found, where he underwent surgery to treat the injuries.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact SPD Detective Maria Llovio at 364-7336. People can also leave an anonymous tip by calling 366-8477 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
