Police investigate north Sarasota shooting

The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a shooting that left two injured in north Sarasota at around 10 p.m. Thursday, July 11, according to a news release. It's at least the third such investigation in the area in the last month.

Detectives are seeking one or more suspects who fled the scene near the intersection of 23rd Street and Maple Avenue in a white car with tinted windows, possibly a Kia Optima or Chevy Malibu, and a paper tag.

The two witnesses injured received non-life threatening wounds. Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Sarasota Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations at 954-7070.
