Sarasota Police do not suspect foul play in the death of a woman believed to be homeless at the Sarasota County Area Transit transfer station in downtown Sarasota around 4 a.m. Friday, June 28, according to Partnership Policing Communications Coordinator Genevieve Judge

Officers believe the woman took shelter at the station to escape the storm, and detectives are currently reviewing surveillance video for more information about the incident, according to a news release.

Sarasota County Area Transit Director Glama Carter in an email to Assistant County Administrator Mark Cunningham indicated that police and SCAT supervisors were on the scene investigating a deceased person before 4:30 a.m.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sarasota Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations at 954-7070.
