The Sarasota Police Department recoverd the body of a 19-year-old man before 9 a.m. Sunday, June 17, roughly 200 yards off of Lido Beach, after witnesses reported him missing the previous evening.

Police and other agencies began a search for Steeve A. Reserve, who was last seen in distress in Big Pass, off of the beach near Ted Sperling Park at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16.

Boaters use Big Pass as an inlet to reach the Gulf of Mexico, but its rough tidal conditions can make the waterway difficult to navigate. The shoreline on south Lido Beach reaches depths greater than 7 feet only steps from the shore.
