Police arrest man suspected of molestation

The Sarasota Police Department arrested a 62-year old man Tuesday, June 25, for lewd lascivious molestation against a child between the ages of 7 and 8.

Investigators allege Vennie Del Singleton touched the young girl inappropriately several times between 2000 and 2002. Detectives listened to a phone call between Singleton and the now-adult victim, in which Singleton admitted to the incidents.

Singleton is being held without bail in the Sarasota County Jail, according to Sheriff's Office arrest records.
