How long ago did you start playing?
“It was 50 years ago. I began as a student in Great Neck, N.Y., and I’ve been playing ever since — but I don’t seem to get much better.”

How was today’s game?
“It was wonderful. It was doubles, and we played with two pretty girls. And the cold beer afterward was great.”

Did you warm up before playing today?
“I seldom warm up, and if I do, it’s very little. I think I’m pretty loose and I really don’t need it.”

What did you eat before your game?
“I never eat much before a game. Maybe a little soup, that’s all.”

What was your best shot/move/play today?
“My best shot every day is my drop shot. I like to make the other guy run a little.”

Any slip-ups today?
“Not really. I just try to be consistent — that’s my goal.”

Will you do anything different the next time you play?
“I don’t think so. As I said, my goal is to be consistent. I just enjoy playing and the company.”
