Pirates hold on for victory

The Braden River High baseball team edged past rival Lakewood Ranch 4-3 in Class 7A-District 10 action March 11.

Eric Kimsey pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run on eight hits and a walk while striking out one, to earn the win on the mound. Pitcher Jordan Guerrero got the final two outs to earn the save.

Derrick Cozzette went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, two RBIs and a run scored to lead the way for Braden River at the plate. Daren Ortiz went 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI.
