Kaitlyn Terpstra, a junior at Pine View, captured the title of High School Idol 6 with her renditions of “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” and “Top Of The World.” Terpstra won second place in 2009.

The competition, now in its sixth year, was televised by the Education Channel and held its final round Jan. 18, at the Players Theatre.

Terpstra received a $2,000 scholarship funded by philanthropist Omar Cooper. She will also receive one year of professional mentoring with the Players Theatre Artistic Director Jeffery Kin, who served as a judge for this year’s competition.

Terpstra, along with second- and third-place winners Emily Mounce and Josie Fleming, respectively, will be guests on “Roles Around Town” with Cliff Roles, which is broadcast live on 1280 AM WTMY, from noon to 2 p.m. Sundays.
