The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy earned two awards in the 2014 National Consumers League Script Your Future Medication Adherence Team Challenge.

For volunteering their time at various events in Erie, Pa. and Bradenton, where they taught patients why they should take their prescribed medications, LECOM students received the National Team Award.

LECOM is one of two pharmacy schools nationally to win that award.

LECOM also won the Creative Interprofessional Team Event Award for its promotions efforts in raising awareness about the importance of medication adherence.

“Our Script Your Future campaign was focused on educating people of all ages, and particularly those with chronic conditions, about the potentially serious consequences of non-adherence, said Bryan Davidson, a third-year LECOM pharmacy student. “I am truly humbled and grateful for the recognition we have received.”

The Script Your Future competition has existed for three years. LECOM students also won the first year.

As an a result of its award-winning efforts this year, LECOM’s School of Pharmacy will receive funds to plan for future community outreach.
