Peace River readies for hurricane season

Peace River Electric Cooperative is gearing up for the summer hurricane season.

To do so, the company is asking its 35,000 members to review the contact information on file for their electric account should a major storm occur.

A toll-free call to PRECO's outage hotline connects members to an automated outage reporting system that determines who is calling and where their account is located. During an outage, if the incoming phone number does not match up with an electric account, the system cannot automatically pinpoint the location of the outage. Having the correct information on file also helps PRECO crews determine how severe the outage is and how to dispatch repairmen.
