Parking garage reaches milestone

Crews working on the Palm Avenue parking garage will mark a major milestone this week.

They’ll begin pouring the concrete that will make up the first elevated parking deck.

Contractor Suffolk Construction has already erected the first set of pilings that support the first deck and started pouring the concrete for the ramp to the first deck.

Matt Slater, Suffolk’s senior project manager, said the scheduled date for completion of the elevated deck is Aug. 16, but he’s trying to finish the job ahead of schedule.

Slater said he’s pleased to reach this milestone.

“To get this completed and to stand up there, it’s huge,” he said.

The garage is scheduled to open to the public in December.
