Members of the Palm-Aire County Club recently enjoyed a special dinner on the “Orient Express.”

As members arrived at the club, which was transformed into a train station, they were greeted on the platform by the train’s uniformed conductor, General Manager John Costello — whistle and all.

After receiving their boarding passes the VIP’s made their way to the dining car, where they enjoyed a scenic train ride through Europe. A large screen provided the “view from the dining car window.”

Each country on the itinerary represented one of the five courses served. From England, poached dover sole was served, and in Germany, the salad included pickled white baby mushrooms, avocado frisee, mache and endive. The next stop was Franch, where guests enjoyed cassoulet-duck confit. As riders took in the sites of Italy, they enjoyed braised beef and veal tortellocci.

As the train arrived at its final destination, Turkey, guests were served mission figs, dates and apricots with brandy, rose water and vanilla cream.

Between courses, members danced to the sounds of E Z Street in the Lounge Car.
