Our Town: Anonymous donation scores home run for chapel

Thanks to an anonymous $300,000 donation, Longboat Island Chapel will soon draw up plans for a new parsonage.

The chapel isn’t in a hurry to break ground but has determined that the new building will be constructed on an empty parcel of land south of the Lord’s Warehouse Thrift Store.

“This gift is intended to support the chapel's mission, the current senior pastor and to ensure that the chapel can attract the best candidates to fill the role of senior pastor in the future,” said Larry Steagall, president of the board of trustees.

The donors hope the funds will serve as a strong starting point and will also inspire others to contribute if necessary.
