Commission reviews city manager candidates today

→ Sarasota city commissioners will discuss city manager candidates and a renovation of U.S. 41 that includes two roundabouts today.

The Sarasota City Commission will be discussing city manager candidates and roundabouts on U.S. 41 at its regular meeting today at City Hall.

City commissioners will whittle its list of eight city manager finalists down to four or five candidates.

Also on the afternoon agenda is a staff discussion on available options for proposed roundabouts on U.S. 41 at 10 and 14th streets. [click here to read on!]

Lane closures on Siesta bridges will overlap

→ Nightly lane closures on the Siesta north bridge are expected to begin within the next week. FDOT is already closing lanes at night on the south bridge for an unrelated project.
The Florida Department of Transportation started closing one lane on the Stickney Point Bridge at night during May and will continue to do so until late June, said a spokeswoman for FDOT.

Construction crews are replacing wood pylons that support the guardrail on the north side of the bridge among other minor concrete repairs, the spokeswoman said. The timeline for that project overlaps the north bridge (Siesta Drive) rehabilitation project expected to tie up traffic until August with nightly lane closures beginning before Monday, June 11. ... Plaza height to top commission discussion

→ The Longboat Key Town Commission will consider adopting changes to its Comprehensive Plan tonight that could impact the maximum allowable height of Whitney Beach Plaza.

Discussion of Whitney Beach Plaza could reach new heights tonight.That’s because the Longboat Key Town Commission will discuss, on second reading and public hearing, an ordinance adopting proposed changes to the town’s Comprehensive Plan during tonight’s regular meeting.
