Obituary: Thomas Bramble

Thomas Edwin Bramble, 101, of Bradenton and formerly of Longboat Key, died Aug. 17.

Born July 31, 1912, in Philadelphia, he was a graduate of Gerrard College, a private boarding school for boys, and of Juniata College in Huntington, Pa., where he majored in sociology and botany.

He was an avid golfer and tennis player, who played tennis well into his 90s at various places on Longboat Key.

Mr. Bramble worked in various capacities for the Tuberculosis Foundation and worked as a high school counselor upon his retirement from the foundation. He moved in 1980 to Bradenton and also rented a home on Longboat Key.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Catharine.

He is survived by his son, John; daughters Barbara and Margaret Robinson; and two grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life service at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 10, at Freedom Village in Bradenton, where he lived since 2005.
