Obituary: Sally Shapiro

Sally Shapiro, 84, of Longboat Key, and formerly of Wooster, Ohio, died Sept. 2.

Mrs. Shapiro had a deep love for children and was instrumental in building the Sally and Sam Shapiro Babies and Children’s Medical Center at the Glasser Schoenbaum Human Services Center, in Sarasota.
Mrs. Shapiro is survived by her husband of 30 years, Samuel; sister Esther “Sissie” Weisberg; her blended family that “started off as four and two but became six”: Marc Gardner, Pam Wolf, Jill Joseph, Judd Gardner, Stephen Shapiro and Thomas Shapiro; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 7 at Wooster Cemetery.
