Obituary: Mary Barash

Mary Barash, of Longboat Key, died July 18.

Mrs. Barash graduated from the New York University Bellevue School of Nursing and later served on the nursing school faculty. After raising her four children, she earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Marymount College, in New York.

Mrs. Barash was a lover of the arts, voracious reader, admirer of the written word, accomplished cook and talented knitter and craftswoman. She was a member of the New York Philharmonic and various museums.

Mrs. Barash is survived by her husband, Ira; children Faith, Louisa, Andrea and David; and four grandchildren.
