Obituary: Marjorie Hammer

Marjorie Hammer, 94, of Longboat Key, died July 31.

Raised in Chicago, Mrs. Hammer was a longtime resident of Great Neck, N.Y., and then Longboat Key.

She was an avid reader, Mahjong player and needlepoint artist who enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Robert, although Longboat Key was the place they loved most. They built their dream house on the Key, where they lived for more than 30 years.

Mrs. Hammer’s greatest pleasure was seeing her family gather during vacations and trips to Florida.
Mrs. Hammer was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.

She is survived by her children, Mark, Suzanne and Steve; and eight grandchildren.

A private memorial service will take place in Weston, Conn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Hammer’s name to your favorite charity.
