Obituary: John Tornillo Sr.

John Tornillo Sr., 84, of Longboat Key, died May 4.

Born Dec. 4, 1929, in New Rochelle, N.Y., Mr. Tornillo attended Calvin Coolidge High School and, upon graduation, served in the U.S. Air Force at MacDill Air Force Base, in Tampa. There, he met his wife, Hilda “Dee Dee” Tornillo. They were married for 59 years and had four children.

Mr. Tornillo was an international sales representative at Alitalia Airlines for 30 years and the owner of several retail businesses. He was also an active member of the Lido Civic Club and Skal International.

Mr. Tornillo is survived by his wife, Dee Dee; children, John Jr., Patricia, Vincent and Mark; sister, Gertrude Gray; and five grandchildren.
