Obituary: Jeanne Knatz Tigani

Jeanne Knatz Tigani of Wilmington, Del. and Longboat Key died January 1. She was 86.

Mrs. Tigani was born on July 5, 1925 in Greenspring Valley, Maryland, daughter of E. Bolton and Grace Ireland Knatz. She was a 1943 graduate of PS DuPont High School and then attended Goldey Beacom College. She married Eugene M. Tigani in 1948 with whom she raised a family, shared a passion for golf and enjoyed a 56-year marriage until his death in 2004.

Mrs. Tigani worked on a committee to keep the city of Wilmington from selling Rock Manor Golf Club, she helped develop the junior golf program and also became president of Rock Manor. She was a member of Wilmington Country Club and Laurel Oak Country Club in Sarasota where she played on the women’s cup teams.

For 30 years she served as a volunteer in the emergency room of the Delaware Division and Christiana Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene M.; sisters Frances Campion and Lynn Marsten. She is survived by two sons, E. Mark and Steven D.; and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be offered in Greenville, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the DSGA Junior Scholarships, 20 West Buckingham Drive, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
