Obituary: Henry Lehne

Henry Lehne, 98, of Longboat Key died Feb. 16.

A native of Pittsburgh, he earned his engineering degree from Carnegie Tech, now Carnegie Mellon University, in his hometown.

In his distinguished business career, Mr. Lehne worked for Republic Aviation, Sylvania and the General Telephone & Electronics Corporation. In 1969, President Richard Nixon nominated him as U.S. Assistant Postmaster General, a position he held for three years.

In 1979, Mr. Lehne moved to Longboat Key upon retiring. He helped establish All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church. He was also a member of the Longboat Key Club and the Bird Key Yacht Club.

He is survived by his sons, Henry and Charles.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, 563 Bay Isles Road. Memorial donations may be made to the Lehne Family Fund at Carnegie Mellon University.
