Obituary: Harold Naill Falls

Harold Naill Falls, 91, of Longboat Key and Nashville, Tenn., died Feb. 3.

Born March 8, 1918, in Dardanelle, Ark., he graduated from Earle High School, in Earle, Ark., and from Rhodes College, in Memphis, Tenn., in 1940, and in 1974, received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Rhodes College as well.

Mr. Falls served as mayor of Wynne, Ark. for 25 years. He was president of the Arkansas Municipal League, a member of the Arkansas Development Board, a lifelong Rotarian and a longtime civil rights leader in Arkansas.

Mr. Falls’ business interests included Falls Equipment Co., in Wynne, First National Bank of Wynne, which he served as board chair, and Wynne Federal Savings and Loan, which he also served as board chair. He also served as chairman of the Mid South Farm Implement Dealers Association.

Mr. Falls was a longtime elder and choir member of Wynne Presbyterian Church and was also an elder at First Presbyterian Church, in Sarasota, and a member of the Good Samaritans Sunday school class.

Mr. Falls was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jessie Adams Woods Hall. He is survived by his children, Jessie Howard McClure, of Sarasota, H. Naill Falls, of Nashville, E. Woods Falls, of Atlanta, and Nancy Falls, of Nashville; sister, Irma Falls Stinson, of Camden, Ark.; companion, Margaret Roberts, of Nashville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place at 10:30 a.m., and a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wynne Presbyterian Church, wynnepres.org, or Rhodes College, rhodes.edu.
