Obituary: Eleanor 'Ellie' McCrudden Vaughn

Eleanor “Ellie” McCrudden Vaughn, 74, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key, died Aug. 5.

Born April 13, 1940, in Woonsocket, R.I., she graduated from nursing school at Rhode Island Hospital and was a pediatrics nurse at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for years.

After retiring to Longboat Key, Mrs. Vaughn enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She also traveled the world and volunteered for the Longboat Key Center for the Arts and Mote Marine Aquarium. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and the beach.

Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her husband, Roland “Rollie” Vaughn, of Sarasota; children Sharon Franklin, of Lakeland, Shawn McCrudden, of Washington, Ill., Patti Shistle, of Orlando, and Patrick McCrudden, of Dover, N.H.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of life took place Aug. 9.
