Obituary: E. Everett Edwards

E. Everett Edwards, 76, formerly of Longboat Key, died June 6.

Born June 2, 1937, he was a graduate of the College of William & Mary in Virginia.
Mr. Edwards served as regional vice president of Connecticut General Life Insurance Co., in Hartford, Conn., president of Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin, and president of Mutual Group (U.S.) Employee Benefits.

He served on the boards of Red Cross of Wisconsin, YMCA Metropolitan Milwaukee, American Heart Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Wisconsin, Heartlove Place, Community Warehouse, Hope Street and Christian Stewardship Foundation and was a founding member of Christian Executive Organization of Milwaukee.

Mr. Edwards taught the Bible for more than 40 years and served on the board of elders in five different churches.

Upon retirement, the people of the inner city became his passion and ministry. He was a present member and senior elder of Oakwood Church, in Delafield, Wis.

Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ernestine Edwards, of Norfolk, Va. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia; children Stephen Edwards, of Nashotah, Wis.; T. Scott Edwards, of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; and Stacey Lee Rice, of Merton, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.

A celebration of life will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Oakwood Church, 3041 Oakwood Road, Hartland, Wis. 53029. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mission Funds at Oakwood Church, oakwoodnow.org.
