Obituary: Cotty Black Johnson

Cotty Black Johnson, 87, of Waterville, Ohio, and formerly of Longboat Key, died March 8.

Born April 25, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Johnson married William Black in 1949. The couple raised their three children in a house built on her family’s property in Waterville. She and Bill Black divorced in 1978.

Mrs. Johnson later moved to Longboat Key and married Theodore Johnson. She was a member and volunteer at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts, a Division of Ringling College of Art and Design. She returned in 2005 to Waterville, where she reconnected with many friends and volunteered at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her two sons, Robert Black, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Jamie Black, of Loudonville, Ohio; daughter, Janie Brown, of Longboat Key; one grandson; and three great-grandsons.
